"The Raleigh Ringers in Concert"
As a follow-up to the extremely successful national syndication of the PBS holiday special, The Raleigh Ringers has released a second PBS special, simply titled "The Raleigh Ringers in Concert". In contrast to the first PBS Special, this program contains a variety of
non-Holiday music.
The premiere showing of this program reached millions of viewers in
North Carolina in April. Thanks to the support of UNC-TV, the program
was again submitted to a syndicator of Public Television programs,
American Public Television (APT). APT held a teleconference in
April to introduce new shows, and "The Raleigh Ringers In Concert"
was voted in by an overwhelming margin! This is especially
exciting for the art of handbells, as by all accounts this is the first
non-Christmas program of it's kind to feature handbells. This program includes such a diversity of tunes, including Stars and Stripes Forever, Hotel
California, Rachmaninoff's Prelude in C# Minor, and several original
works for handbells.
With our first PBS special, we learned
that the programmers at PBS stations around the country are heavily
influenced by viewer input. If you'd like to see this program aired in
your region of the country, please contact your station and request
"The Raleigh Ringers In Concert".
Other television appearances include the Holiday Special broadcast on more than 250 American Public Television stations in 45 states in 2003, 2004 and 2005 and the "Hour of Power" from the Crystal Cathedral in 2002. See Past Events for more details.
